All finished installing risers on the part of the layout that is at a uniform height – Akron and Lapeer. I am delighted at the rigidity of the structure. Installation went silky smooth. Used tractor weights (40 lb. ea.) to make sure the risers were firmly held down against the crossmembers, drilled pilot holes, and inserted #6 tapping screws. This process was repeated all the way around the layout to where Lapeer ends at the backdrop.
Next up is to cut the opening through the backdrop and build the sub-roadbed connection between Lapeer and the Mettiki Mine area.
